10 Thai Fashion Photographers to Follow
A successful campaign, a creative look book, a stunning magazine cover, aren’t all just about the models representing the clothes. A complete piece of fashion photography needs a visionary lensman behind each snapshot.
Here are the list of Thai fashion photographers who have worked with high fashion brands, international magazines, top models, as well as homegrown brands.
1.Nat Prakobsantisuk
As one of the most famous fashion photographers in Thailand, Nat Prakobsantisuk is a seasoned traveler who enjoys mixing his adventurous antics with cultural aspects. Many of his photography have been described as having a mesmerizing and enchanting quality that can make the most doom scroll-addict of us stop and stare for a while.
His visions have graced world famous publications like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, and the bespectacled cameraman has also shot some of the top celebrities in Thailand namely Thanapob “Tor” Leeratanakachorn and Metinee Kingpayom. His latest work with Vogue follows the “Sbai story” and features a collection of haunting blurry vintage images, similar to portraits of a long lost lover.
2.Wasan Puengprasert
A lensman who boasts 20 years of industry experience, Wasan Puengprasert is all about capturing portraits with alluring details. He’s had work featured on L’Officiel, GQ and notably shot the Olympic 2024 fashion set for Vogue Thailand. Apart from operating as a freelance photographer, Wasan is also a guest professor at the faculty of decorative arts, Silpakorn university.
His portfolio is filled though not limited to world renown magazine shoots. Wasan’s work constantly spotlight his student’s talents, snapping away thesis projects and graduate fashion shows. He’s also done pre-wedding portraits for the high profile couple, actor Ananda Everingham and designer Nicha Thanalongkorn.
3.Tada Varich
Known for capturing the austere and charming spirits of his subjects, Tada Varich’s work is recognizable through his playful interaction between the models and the backdrop. Whether it's the popular Bang Saen beach or a studio, Tada is able to elevate the space with a flash of his camera.
His passion for architecture is clear as he also currently runs the gothic style “La Chapelle”, a multi-purpose space open for weddings and photography. This photographer also works exclusively with Vogue Thailand and occasionally do fun celebrity photoshoots like Prin “Mark Suparat and Kimberly Anne Woltemas’ Halloween cosplay photoshoot as The Addams Family.
4.Aekarat Ubonsri
Aekarat Ubonsri is an exciting photographer who has risen through the ranks with his unique visuals. His shoots would often juxtaposed high fashion looks against cultural landscapes from world heritage sites like Angkor Wat, to the eccentric interiors of Thai style tour buses, to the hidden streets of Talad Noi, he’s done it all.
It’s not a surprise why his images can be found in international publications like National Geographic and Vogue U.S. He now works exclusively for Vogue Thailand. Celebrating 12 years of Vogue Thailand, his latest work for the magazine’s digital cover features cover girl Sara Grace Wallerstedt against the vibrant atmosphere of a Samut Sakhon temple fair.
5.Punsiri Siriwetchapun
Similar to how director Greta Gerwig resonated with the French word for director, réalisateur, rather than its English word, director – one of Thailand’s strongest fashion photographers Punsiri Siriwetchapun also prefers to go by “image maker” instead.
The distinction isn’t merely semantics. Punsiri’s work are often highly conceptual, avant garde, and unabashedly queer. The reflection of Punsiri’s confident expression perhaps stems from her days studying masters at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco where the young photographer was able to express their identity and creativity in the liberated city.
6.Non Superverysnapshot
London, Paris, Milan, repeat. If there’s a fashion week, photographer Non who goes by Superverysnapshot, will be there. As a seasoned lensman, Non specializes in street fashion photography and often pack his gear to globe trot for some cool shots.
Back at home, Non’s gigs consist of concert photography and high fashion luxury events. He has snapped some of the country's brightest stars like Davika Hoorne, Chayanit Chansangavej, and Cris Horwang, just to name a few. Being the co-founder and creative director of his own fashion brand, S.V.S.S. further informs the relationship between the body and clothing, allowing him a detailed understanding of how to sell a garment innovatively.
7.Panasann Pattanakulchai
An alumni from the faculty of communication design, Chulalongkorn University and Central Saint Martins, Pannasann Pattanakulchai’s work span across genres, and stands out from the crowd with his high contrast hues and satirical nature.
His personal ventures have been featured on Vice Magazine. He’s also hosted a collection of photo exhibitions titled “High Rise Buildings, Low Rise Builders” which explores the dissonance between the luxurious skyscrapers mushrooming around Bangkok and its builders who live in makeshift low condition shelters. Commercially, he is the go-to guy to shoot campaigns for some of Thailand's most popular online fashion brands such as Gigi Beachbabes, Mustard Sneakers, and Rally Movement, all of which boast over 100K followers on Instagram.
8.Noppatham Kanjanasoon
It’s not everyday we see a multi hyphenated talent that can style, edit, photograph, and model at the same time. Noppatham “Nop” Kanjanasoon is an up and coming actress who has appeared in music videos and films like Faces of Anne (2022). She has also modeled for local fashion brands like Matter Makers and Fallen Angels. But her visual proficiency doesn't stop there.
In her free time, Nop professionally edits and photographs commercial artworks for brands and celebrities. In her personal social media account, she engages in fun passion projects starring herself and her muses. Nop’s style typically has a retro and kitschy effect, prevalent in edits like the “Runaway Bride” or reimagining the iconic childhood Horse color pencil box.
9.Techa Wara
The budding fashion photographer Techa Wara loves a moody lighting paired with vibrant clothings. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s secured a published photography set with Pap Magazine, a creative global platform and magazine based in Milan.
Now Techa is swiftly collecting a portfolio consisting of high end homegrown fashion brands. The clothes having as distinct of a design as his visuals. From the rebranded Disaya (the 2000s hit label which made the iconic dress that’s been worn by Amy Winehouse on one of the most recognizable album covers, Back to Black), to the sculptural accessories from W0dd Bangkok, to the ultra unique fashion brand like Marviaca.
10.Five Kompakorn
Five Kompakorn has his hands in many projects. He is the artistic director of the effortlessly cool streetwear brand, Fuxury. Occasionally, he’ll be snapping punk black and white, and retro style campaign images that look as if they belonged in a photo book.
His connection with fashion extends beyond the lens as Five founded and is currently creatively directing Antnest, one of the city’s go to shops for selected second hand clothing. The store specializes in hunting down pre-loved jeans and vintage t-shirts. He also has the experience of photographing for other local brands such as Matter Makers and Misty Storage in his back pocket.
